Challenge:
Applications Systems Corporation (ASC) is a highly successful jewelry software development firm- so successful in fact that they began to have difficulty keeping their website updated as new products and features emerged. They hired a local Boston company to create a content management system. Unfortuantly the project failed and they were left with an under performing website that struggled with functionality and search engine optimization. This website, an integral part of Customer Relationship Management, needed a “behind the scenes” rewrite to expedite the process of adding and modifying content, while retaining search engine appeal.
Strategy:
ASC searched across the nation for a company to help integrate a new content management system (CMS) that was robust and search engine friendly. We took their requirements and designed from scratch a CMS that was user friendly and provided a flexible and powerful tool to update the site regularly and easily.
We centralized components of web development within the editor controls to make them easily accessible for those not as proficient in HTML. We also developed a delivery engine that presents ASC as a static web site as well as adding customized meta tags to boost its rankings in search engines. Also to prevent mistakes from becoming detrimental we included an automatic versioning of every change, with the ability to roll forward or backward to restore the content at any point in time. |

Results:
Using the DirectControlTM 2.0 System, Applications Systems Corporation has taken back control of their web site. They have the freedom to perform simple maintenance or deploy large amounts of new content from anywhere in the world with a web browser and an Internet connection.
No longer at the mercy of technology, and fighting to deploy new content through the understanding of a technician, ASC is free to focus on making sure the web site is an accurate reflection of who they are and what they do.
ASC customers get up to the minute information and are aware of new products, features, and documentation as soon as it is available. On an even better note even with this content management system ASC was able to climb higher in organic search engine rankings.
