Challenge:
There were serveral operational challenges involved in kicking off the CamelSquare rezoning project. Some neighbors were upset about height, while many supporters came forward pledging to help. Furthermore, community leaders were requesting that the developers communicate regularly with them, and the community.
There was no website, no centralized database, nor a self-managed email newsletter system in place. Furthermore, community activists supporting the project lacked the technology to share what they learned in a timely manner.
Strategy:
Because of the importance of this major redevelopment project, M3 Partner, Scott Schirmer hired DirectClarity to put some virtual structure around the project. We began by creating a website that accurately portrayed the vison of the CamelSquare at 44th (www.camelsquare.com) project, complete with an interactive flash site plan that enabled web visitors to visualize the positive plans prepared for the intersection.
As the website was about to come online, DirectClarity implemented a web-based centralized data management system that allowed the team to share supporter information, project documents, task lists, and internal communications.
Finally, DirectClarity provided process and project management expertise by establishing data management processes, communication protocols and deliverable timelines that met with the requirements of the community. |

Results:
The CamelSquare at 44th project continues to gain traction with supporters and policy makers at the city level. From a handful of supporters, the project team was able to build a support base of hundreds and hundreds of active friends of the project. Furthermore, as information becomes available it can be shared almost instantly. Finally, internal operations are streamlined without costly data duplication or disorganization.
